Newtown Skatepark

Newtown skatepark was designed by Acrete and opened in 2012. It can be found on the banks of the River Severn and features a mix of transitions and street elements.

The skatepark is split into two main runs, the first being a transition based one. It starts on one side with a half pipe with a bowled corner on one side the opens up onto a long roll over. Adjacent to this is a bowled corner that is joined to the half pipe and after this is a long quarter pipe that has a large extension on one side and curves around.

The street section starts on one side with a taco and flat bank combo that open up onto a raised level that has a flat bank leading up with a small stair set and hubbas. Running along side this is a another flat bank and at the end of the raised level is a hip that then joins onto the bowled section. Running parallel to the street run is also a long run up to a curved rail over some grass which is more film oriented than anything.

Newtown skatepark is a great local park that has a bit of something for everyone. The park has a decent selection of obstacles that have been well arranged to make good use of the space to flow well. Whether you ride transitions or street you should get yourself down here and check it out.
