Empire Skatepark (Colchester)
Empire skatepark is a small indoor warehouse park in Colchester that also has the recent addition of a small outdoor section as well. It is made up of a mixture of concrete and metal ramps on a concrete base and features all of the obstacles you would expect from a park of this size set up in a creative way.
In the warehouse the edges are bowled at differing heights with some vert extensions and a door hole gap in the tallest one. In one corner are two open sided bowls that are next to each other forming a nice spine gap. In the middle of the course is a funbox with two hubbas running down the middle and also a large jump box attached to the side. There is also a mini ramp on the back side of this area with a very extension and a roll in.
Outside is a small old school pool style open bowl that is made of concrete and is quite tight and whippy.
Empire is a great skatepark, run solely by skaters. There is a lot to do here on and off the ramps and the ramps are perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike. If you are in the area you should definitely check it out.

Getting there
Colchester Town train station: Exit Colchester Town station onto the roundabout and take St. Botolphs Street north until Priory Street on your right. Take this road and follow it until the end where it meets East Road, turn right onto this road and follow it through the roundabouts and over the river until Moorside road on your right. Take this road and then take the first left following the road until Empire skatepark is in sight.
Greenstead Road bus stop: Exit the bus onto East Street and take the road named Moorside south, following it around until Empire skatepark is in sight.
